DESCRIPTION:
Ansonia Clock Co., New York, "Ledger No.1" wall clock, 8 day, gong strike, wall clock.
CONDITION:
this is a large clock at over 3 feet, sort of a jazzed up store regulator, merchandised by Ansonia to compete with the German box clock style that was popular in 1910. These do not appear often. Note the suspension wire with "T" got lost and the pendulum is not attached in photo This is a one family clock and it appears that the movement was never serviced [complete but grimy]. Dark mahogany grained finish over hardwood. Will clean up nicely. Original dial, hands, finish and hardware. Note that a sister clock appeared as a prop in the movie "The Evil Dead", and its sequel. We sold the sister to this clock on 5-8-2009, lot 348.
